Augustine, Phillip Anthony
Of Jackson, passed away on February 28th, 2024 at the age of 74 years in his home. Phil is survived by his wife of 10 years, Elizabeth; children - Phillip Jr. (Meredith), Andrew (Kasia), Autumn (Cole), and Ivyanne; stepchildren - Jason (Melissa), Ashley, Douglas, and Courtney; grandchildren - Skylar, Lincoln, Aria, Alexandra, and Jordan; siblings - Rick (Carol), Roseann, Matthew (Sharon), Martin, and Mary Grace (Derron); and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary, and sisters Charmaine and Carolyn.
Phil was born on January 22, 1950 in Jackson, Michigan. He attended St. John's School where he graduated in 1968. For most of his career he was an insurance agent, retiring from Prudential in 2017.
Phil was active in the community and loved to help people, volunteering at the Optimist Ice Arena & Club for 25 years, participating in Operation Christmas Child through his church (Bethel) every year and was a part of the Benevolence Fund there as well. Faith was number one in his life. He loved reading the Bible every morning to his wife, listening to sermons and Christian music while relaxing on the porch and sharing the word of Jesus. Most of all, he wanted all of our children to believe and follow Jesus. Phil loved fully in all he did, from attending every sports game and band concert for his kids, taking care of his mother after his father passed, and being there for all family and friends when they needed someone. Phil loved to cook and share his creations, garden, and go for bike rides with his wife. No matter what the situation, Phil always remained positive and had a way with words to make you feel better. Phil was not afraid to die, but looked forward to seeing Jesus.
Mr. Augustine is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held at 9:30 AM Thursday, March 7, 2024 followed by The Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Father Tim Nelson officiating. Interment follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 6 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 4:00 PM.
