Hager, Percy E.

Son of Maurice and Ruth Hager, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the age of 93 years under the loving care of his family at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home. Percy has now joined his loving wife Mary of 73 years in their heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Hager, daughter Barbara Lowe, grandson Shawn Vowels and great granddaughter Alayna Hager. He is survived by five children: Ken (Pattie) Hager, Sally (Bob) Markiewicz, Maurice "Kip" (Sue) Hager, Larry (Kellie) Hager, Tammy (Bob) Nyssen; 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

Percy was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II stationed at Leyte, Philippines and Japan under General MacArthur in the 44th General Division, 8th Army. After returning from the service, Percy worked a short time at the U.S. Post Office, followed by 20+ years at Hancock Industries and 20+ years as Wyman-Gordon before retiring in 1990. For many years he also worked a second job of painting houses to support his family. Percy appreciated the fact that he was able to enjoy so many years of retirement in good health. He and his beloved wife enjoyed many winters spent in Florida. Percy was extremely devoted to his family and loved spending time with all of them being it the trips up to the cabin in Fife Lake, the many golf outings, the Holiday family gatherings, or just the daily visits of one of the kids checking in on him. In his younger years, Percy enjoyed bowling and golfing and was an avid sports watcher. He enjoyed the game of golf up to age 91 where he enjoyed a scramble round with several of his kids every Sunday afternoon. Later in life, Percy became an avid reader and fan of computer games.

Per Percy's request, cremation will take place and a private celebration of his life will take place. In lieu of a service, Percy's wishes were that everyone would say a prayer in his name and know he is now at peace with the love of his life. The family would like to thank the staff at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home for the care given in his transition to his heavenly home.

For those who wish, contributions to the church of your choice or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
