Paula Gratcl Sondergeld
Today our family lost another matriarch. Paula Gratcl Sondergeld passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017. Born on November 13th, 1951 in Toledo. She was a fantastic daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She will be dearly missed. Her life was full of love and she contributed to society in many ways. She was an exceptional pharmacist, a very intelligent women, a caregiver to her family, and she could cook a gourmet meal better than almost any food network chef. Paula was a graduate of the University of Toledo Pharmacy program and she worked primarily at St. Charles Hospital and Omnicare.
She was the light of her husband Ronald Sondergeld's life for over 40 years and he will miss her greatly. Ron and Paula enjoyed a very happy life together in Sylvania, and more recently in their home at Round Lake in Horton, Michigan. Round Lake will not be the same without her, but we will remember her every day we are on the water and with our family. It has been a very sad time, but it is also a time to celebrate, as we know she is finally at peace after a difficult year of illness. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret Gratcl, her brother Bob Gratcl, and her parents-in-law Harold and Vera Sondergeld. Paula is survived by her husband Ron, siblings Butch (Judy) Gratcl, Gretchen (Paul) Kinney, and Gayle (Steve) Sutter, children Tom Sondergeld, Sue Jilek, Deb (Richard) Obert, grandchildren Kristen Jilek, Alex Jilek, Zach Obert, Erica Jilek, and Alyssa Amazzaloroso all who have brought joy to her life throughout the years.
To Paula, may she rest in peace and find joy in her new place. Comfort to Ron, may he move on in calm reassurance that he had many great years with her and that she is in a better and more comfortable place.
Paula had a passion for and worked directly with the American Diabetes Association. Memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 15829 Arlington, VA 22215.
A Private Memorial Service will be held with family and close friends.
