Marchewka, Patricia "Pat" Shelden,
Age 88, joined her husband Jim in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 9, 2018. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter JoAnn Brennan, and sons Shelden (Lisa) Marchewka and Christopher (Conni) Marchewka. She was a loving Grandmother to Matthew and Patrick (Vannessa) Brennan and Nicholas, Jordan (Jenna), and Alyssa Marchewka. She is also survived by her two sisters Alberta (Al) Stadler and Shirley Judge along with numerous nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her husband Jim Marchewka, parents Albert and Frances Shelden, and son-in-law Thomas Brennan.
On April 23, 1929 in Rockford Illinois, Albert and Frances Shelden welcomed their daughter Patricia Joan to this world. Pat grew up in Rockford, went to a one room school before attending West Sr. High in Rockford, then graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Home Economics. She met her husband Jim in Belvidere, Illinois, they were married, and had three children. Jo Ann, Shel and Chris. They moved to Jackson in 1962, lived on Loren Drive for 44 years where they raised their three children. Education was always important to Pat and she encouraged and supported her children and grandchildren in pursuing their college degrees. Pat has always been an avid reader and interested in news and current events. She enjoyed vacations and traveling with the family and husband, Jim. She used her Home Economics degree in her daily life as she cooked meals, sewed clothes, made quilts, and kept the family budget. Jim and Pat moved to Vista Grande Villa for their retirement where Pat enjoyed the social activities and participated on committees. Pat was looking forward to the upcoming birth of her first two great grandchildren this summer.
The family would like to thank the staff of Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home for their exceptional care and outpouring of love.
Pat was a faithful and devoted servant of the Lord and parishioner of Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, Jackson, Michigan where a visitation will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 AM . Father Tim MacDonald will officiate at the Funeral Mass. A private interment will take place in Illinois.
Contributions to the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home would be appreciated.
