age 89, passed away on January 14, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 63 years, Carl F. Bachle, in 2017.
Pat was born April 8, 1931, in Springfield, Illinois, to Harold and Loretta (Rodems) Kalish and was raised in Springfield and South Bend, Indiana. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from St. Mary's College, South Bend, Indiana, in 1953 and a Master of Arts in Education from Eastern Michigan University in 1977. She met Carl Bachle when he was a freshman at Notre Dame, and they married in 1954. They moved to Jackson when he joined Aeroquip in 1957, and never left. She was a teacher, counselor, and interim principal at Jackson Catholic Middle School from 1978 until 1999. She was an active member at Queen's Church for decades, serving as an extraordinary minister, lector, and Arimathean. She also volunteered at the Ella Sharp Museum, the Food Bank, and as a facilitator for the Lansing Diocese. She was known for her gourmet cooking, gardening, and sewing prowess; she loved opera, traveling, dancing and bridge.
She is survived by her four children: Anne (Mark) Fifer of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Karen (Daniel) Bishop of Mason, Michigan, John (Jennifer) Bachle of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and James Bachle of Mason, Michigan; four grandchildren: Theresa (Tony) Frasca, Joseph (Emily) Bishop, Lauren Bachle and Michael Bachle; five great-grandchildren: Loretta, Nora and Vincent Frasca, Lucy and Logan Bishop; and her brother, Jack Kalish.
Special thanks to the staff at Trellis Gardens who lovingly tended to her these last few years.
