Oscar John Placher

Age 61, of Jackson, passed away, Sunday, January 2, 2022. Oscar was born May 12, 1960 in Saginaw, the son of Louis and Joanna (Swift) Placher. He graduated from Saginaw High. Oscar served in the National Guard for 20 years. He was the Captain of the Parma-Sandstone Fire Department. Oscar enjoyed watching the Red Wings, collecting guns, listening to country music, BBQ's and loved his grandchildren dearly.

He is survived by his daughter Tanya (Lou) Garza, son Ryan Placher, grandchildren Alexandria (Tyler) Nieman, Guadalupe Garza, Caitlin Garza, Tucker Garza, Joslyn Placher, Kyla Placher, Feelica Placher, great grandchildren Addyson, Paisley, siblings Edward (Norma) Baker, Andy (Gail) Placher, Thomas Placher, Sam (Roberta) Placher, Patrick Placher, Maryanna Placher-Burrill, sister-in-law Margaret Placher, many nieces, nephews and close friends, especially those on the fire department.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, brother Frank "Buddy" Placher, sister-in-law Cheryl Placher, brother-in-law Dave Burrill, nephews Christopher, Jacob and family friend Homer Garza.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2021 at 12 pm at the Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, 531 N. State St., Alma, MI 48801. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11 am until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Placher Family, c/o Tanya Garza.

The memorial service for Capt Placher will be Saturday the January 15 at 11:00 am at the Parma Baptist Church in Parma.
