Amburgey, Norma Louise

84, of Jackson, Michigan, began her new life in Heaven on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Daniel Boone Amburgey, Jr. Dan & Norma are survived by four children, Yvonne (Roger) Thomson, Daniel (Melody) Amburgey, William (Sheryl) Amburgey, and Richard (Brenda) Amburgey. The couple also have 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

Norma was a skilled homemaker and loved to serve her husband and her children. She filled her days gardening, cooking everything from scratch, sewing, baking (with whole wheat flour and raw sugar of course), canning and cleaning. In her younger years, she frequently entered canned goods and clothing she had made, in the Jackson County Fair, winning many ribbons for her entries.

Above all else, Norma loved her Lord, and was passionate for others to know Him too. If she met you on the street, it would only take a few minutes before she'd ask, "Do you know Jesus as your personal Savior?" Her passion to share Jesus with the world led her to become an intense prayer warrior. She prayed for all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, by name, everyday. She also led the National Day of Prayer effort in Jackson for many years. As such, she coordinated everything from the speakers, location, music, decorations and media coverage, to meetings between the Mayor and the city's Pastors.

The family is forever grateful to the beautiful caregivers that helped Norma in her home for four years. These ladies not only cared for her, but loved her deeply. Thanks also goes to The Jacqueline House caregivers for their sweet, competent care in Norma's last year on earth.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 1:00 PM at New Covenant Living Church, 2405 West Washington Ave, Jackson, with Pastor Shel Marchewka officiating. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery in Jackson.

The family will receive visitors at the church on Monday from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM.
