Volakakis, Nicholas A. "Nick"
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 30, 2015 at Countryside Nursing Home with his wife of 65 years, Connie, beside him. Connie survives him along with his daughter, Teresa (Mike) Zaski and his two special grandchildren, Adrienne and Michael (fiancé Christina), two nephews, Frank (Frannie) Galardi and Tom (Margie) Galardi, and his sister, Mary Volakakis.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Monica (Allen) and her family, husband, Marvin and children Mason and Marina; his brother George and sister Joann.
Nick and Connie are life long members of St. John Catholic Church, where Nick was an usher for over 50 years. They were members of Guys and Dolls Dance Club and enjoyed their time at the Boos Center. Nick served in the U.S. Army, and is a World War II Veteran. He worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance for 37 years as an insurance salesman. After his retirement he worked at Desnoyer Funeral Home for 17 years.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, on Monday, October 5, 2015 at St. John Catholic Church with Father Jim Shaver and Deacon Mike McCormick officiating. A private interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the Desnoyer Funeral Home with a Rosary Service taking place at 7:00 PM.
Those who wish may make memorial donations to St. John Catholic Church.
