McCormack, Nancy J.
Nancy lived a life of kindness. She had the ability to make everyone around her feel special and loved. For thirty years she was an educator at East Jackson Memorial Elementary. She enjoyed sharing her love for children's literature and had a special fondness for the Winnie the Pooh books. You could often find Nancy walking through her neighborhood or on her porch, cheerfully greeting every neighbor who passed by. Always with a large, faithful dog by her side. She very much enjoyed seeing the neighborhood children and watching them grow over the years. Some neighbors became her dearest friends and she thought of them as family. After her retirement, Nancy volunteered with the Dahlem Center, Jackson Storyfest, Ella Sharp Museum, and the Jackson District Library. She never lost her sense of wonder when observing nature. The milkweed she planted decades ago has fed many generations of monarch butterflies. Nancy's wooded property has served as a sanctuary for many species of animals. It brought her joy to watch them visit her yard daily through her big picture window. It pleased her that many children have had good times fishing, frog hunting, building forts and playing in the woods. It is her wish that her neighbors continue to enjoy and appreciate the forest and animals.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Paul T. and Gladys McCormack, and sister, Lois Anderson. She is survived by her brother, Paul D. McCormack of Adrian, and by her beloved nieces and nephews: Michael Ballantyne, Erin Munoz and Debra Dalton and their families.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy's memory to any of her favorite organizations that are listed above. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
