Michael Thayer Weed

Born October 16, 1961 in Jackson, Michigan, Michael Weed passed away April 5, 2022 in his hometown. He was the youngest child of John Sibbald Weed and Barbara Craft Weed, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother John Weed, Jr. and his two sisters, Margaret (Weed) Carriker and Judy Weed. Michael also had three nephews, a niece, numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, and two life-long friends he called brothers: Chris Surbrook and Mike Romoser.

Mike graduated from Jackson High in 1980, Mike's life is summarized by saying that relationships were the most important thing to him. Whether with friends that he had from Bloomfield Elementary, Hunt or Jackson High throughout adulthood, or with family that he was always in contact with, Mike could always be counted on to remember important dates, to send a handwritten note, to be helpful, to be there if they needed him. Mike always put others ahead of himself and did so with an open heart. Friends describe The Weedo as fiercely loyal, kind, funny, charitable, kind of shy, chivalrous, "pretty hot back in the day", fun to party with and that he had a charming smile. Mike was with and took care of his Mom until the day she died.

Mike was a lifelong Detroit Tigers and Michigan Wolverine fan, he loved Led Zeppelin, and his dogs, especially "Girlie" who was depicted in a sketch on many of the cards he would send out.

Memorial arrangements will be announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Jackson Interfaith Shelter.
