Tash, Michael

Age 80, of Spring Arbor, passed away peacefully at his home on September 26, 2025.  He was born on April 30, 1945, Michael was the son of Roger (Joyce) Tash and Dorothy (Harold) Omans.   A devoted husband, Michael shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Therese (Koenigsknecht). He was the proud father of two daughters, Christen (Joe) Maynard of Pleasant Lake, MI and Adrienne (Jon) Nelson of Basalt, CO, and the loving grandfather of Rachel (Tyler) Gielniak, Nick Dobbin, Courtney Dobbin, Madison Nelson, Beckett Nelson, and Emilia Nelson. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandson, Leo Gielniak. He also leaves behind his siblings Rick Omans, Ron (Maureen) Omans, Liz (Tim) Ritchey, David (Tara) Tash, Sandy (Dean) Cupples and many other brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Michael proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated over 20 years as a Police Officer for the City of Jackson and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. His commitment to public service extended beyond his career—each Veterans Day, he quietly honored fellow servicemen by paying for all of their meals at a local restaurant.

A devoted supporter at Lumen Christi, Michael found joy in attending games and assisting in coaching. His interests were as varied as they were passionate; he enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, building model cars and miniatures, and listening to classic rock music.

A celebration of Michael's life will be on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Randy Koenigsknecht officiating.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.

In his honor, the family encourages acts of kindness in your community, especially toward veterans, as a tribute to the way he lived his life.
