Michael Moran

Michael J. Moran of Jackson, passed away under the loving care of Vista Grande Villa and his family on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Mike celebrated a joyous 90th birthday on February 15th sporting an official Red Wings jersey surrounded by family and friends.

He is survived by his children: Dave(Beth) Moran, Tom (Barb) Moran, Dan Moran and Michele (Don) Durecki. Grandchildren: Jessie, Miranda, Michael Moran, Taryn Moran, Katie (Brandon) Powers, Devin, Colton Moran, Brynn Durecki, Blake (Amberley) Durecki and Great Grandchildren: Cayden, Lillian, Taitym, Kye, Gavin, and Caspian. Brothers and sisters: Joe (Hope) Moran, Patricia (Charlie) Moran, Phil (Barb) Moran, Janet (Pat) McCormick and Peggy (Pete) Kalbarczyk. John and Marjorie Moran, and his siblings: Barb (Dave) Hilderley, John (Connie) Moran and Howard (Diane) Moran and Charlie Moran and by his niece Debbie Moran and nephew Mike Moran.

Mike was a 50+ year member of Pipefitters local 636. Mike used to say he loved his grandkids more than ice cream, and boy did he love ice cream! He could be seen on many a weekend running away from at least 3 grandkids down the hill at Cascades Park with their ice cream cones. Mike was a constant jokester with his family, and Polaroid photos prove it.  He was an excellent euchre player and often frustrated others players when he would say: “ok, lay down your ace”.  Mike was a master gardener with impeccable roses and poison ivy scars.

He enjoyed his bowling leagues, and beer frames, and even wore a white bow tie with his bowling shirt once. Again Polaroid documented!  In his final phase of life he was lovingly cared for by an exceptionally wonderful staff at Vista Grand Villa where he was endearingly known as Uncle Mike. He continually unloaded puns till the very end!

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held a the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Deacon Pat Gorczyca officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please buy a child an ice cream cone!
