Brieger, Michael W.

Passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a brief illness on Sunday, September 13, 2020. He was the husband of Katherine for nearly 48 years. He was the father of Michael, Sarah, Aaron, Julie, and Adam. He was the grandfather of eight. He is also survived by his three sisters and two brothers.

Michael graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1960, the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1966, and a Master's Degree from Michigan State University in 1973. He taught high school math for 40 years. He retired from Jackson High School in 2006. Michael was a former member of the Jackson County Sheriff's Department Marine Patrol and retired after 31 years of service. He was an avid Michigan fan and enjoyed many things including Jeopardy, reading books, golfing, solving cross word puzzles, and Sudoku. He could do complex math problems in his head and was a good card player.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 12:30 PM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Father Tim Nelson officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:30 to 12:30 PM.
