McNaughton, Merrie
On Saturday, January 2, 2021, Merrie joined her husband, Clayton, at home in Heaven. She was born on September 4, 1920. They were married December 14, 1940, in Alexandria, LA. They were separated by death in November, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Winifred Chambers; sister, Helen Hitchcock; and two brothers, Russell Chambers and Max Chambers. Mom was given her wish to stay in her home under the loving care of her daughters, Kay and Pam. She is survived by her three daughters, Kay Linden, Pamela Danilowsky, and Terrie Shelly. They will carry her memories forward to her grandchildren, Troy (Monica) Linden, Tricia (David) Martin, Jeffery (Liza) Kerr, Holly (Kevin) Bacon, Todd (Annette) Shelly, Alicia Hadley, and Alison (Bruce) Wallace; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Tyler, Chase, Felicia, Corbin, Emma, Jeffrey, Kara, Rex, Colby, Riley Adam, Nina, Zach, Emily, Patrick, and Ethan; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mom was a stay at home mom. Her and dad were members of Calvary United Methodist Church. They volunteered together in the ER Department at Foote Hospital and mom continued volunteering in the gift shop when it became Allegiance Hospital. She was a mean Euchre player and looked forward to playing every week. Mom and dad were also members of the State Retirees.
"We knew it was time for God to come and take your hand. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, when God called out your name. You did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is in our hearts; And though we cannot see you, we'll never be apart. Our family chain is broken again and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, our chain will link again."
We will gather to celebrate her life and memories on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the Desnoyer Funeral Home with Reverend Doctor Jennifer Jue officiating. Due to COVID there will be no visitation and a private service for the family will be held. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Instead of sending flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church or Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice.
