Went home to be with the Lord together on Saturday, June 6, 2020.
Cheri was born on October 17, 1963. She graduated from Western Schools and the JCC Nursing Program. She was proud to be a registered nurse and was employed at Detroit Medical Center Sinai Hospital. She was an active member as well as devoted much of her free time to the landscaping of St. Mary's church grounds. She took great care of her own scenic garden at home. She was a passionate photographer, researcher, decorator, baker and had an eye for detail. She lived everyday with love and pride for her daughter and son.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Ryan) Franks; grandson, Jasper; parents, Jack and Virginia McCourtie; and her siblings, Lorie (Rick) Tripp, Kevin (Sheila) McCourtie, and Don (Jerri) McCourtie.

Elgin was born on January 4, 1991. He graduated from Jackson High School in 2009. He graduated from Douglas Education Center (Tom Savini Special Effects School) in 2011 with an Associates Degree in Art. Elgin enjoyed sculpting, drawing, metal works, cooking, and spending time with his friends and family. He lived selflessly, always giving, a patient and helpful person. He devoted much of his time assisting his father. He loved both his parents very much. Elgin is survived by his father, Daniel and step mother, Traci; sister, Jennifer; step sister, Taylor; step brother, Parker; aunt, Laurie, uncles, Rick, Don, and Kevin; grandfather, Jack; grandmother, Virginia; and nephew, Jasper.


Cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 10:30 AM with Fr. Tim Nelson officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.

Instead of sending flowers, contributions to St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church would be appreciated.
