Maureen O'Connor Vogt
of Jackson, born October 12th, 1933, passed away peacefully at Summit Park Assisted Living Center on Friday May 14, 2021, aged 87 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, George O'Connor and Patricia (McCartney) O'Connor, her brother John Martin O'Connor, and her husband of 57 years, Gerald Vogt. Maureen is survived by her sister-in-law Patricia O'Connor, her children Patti (Frank) Wagner, Michelle (Bill) Kendell, Paula (Jim) Lehrman, and Gerald Jr.; eight grandchildren, Katie (Chris) Dremann, Andy (fiancée Lucia) Wagner, Tim Wagner; Ben, Claire, and Ellie Kendell; Joe and Gus Lehrman, and many nieces and nephews. Maureen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and she touched many lives with her devotion to faith, family, and friends. She was a 1951 graduate of St. John's High School in Jackson, a 1953 graduate of the University of Detroit, and made a career as a dental hygienist—she worked in the profession for 50 years. She was a lifelong member of Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Jackson where she was a dedicated volunteer in the church's charitable groups, and she was an advocate and leader in the establishment and maintenance of the church's Perpetual Adoration Chapel. She had a strong lifelong faith, and she practiced it through her acts of charity and kindness. Maureen was a steadfast and loyal caregiver for her husband for years at the end of his life. Maureen was known to affectionately send "all the angels and saints" with her loved ones through prayer. She was a dog-lover, and leaves behind her beloved Chihuahua, Taco (who will be well cared for). Maureen will be remembered for her love and loyalty and a life lived with devotion and good will. She will be fondly missed. The family wishes to thank the Summit Park Assisted Living Center and Thome PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) for their extraordinary and compassionate care for Maureen.
