Harper, Matthew Paul

Age 51, of Jackson passed away on Monday, January 11. Matt was born in Jackson and in his youth was a boy scout, and enjoyed baseball and golf. He attended Jackson County Western and graduated in 1989. After attending college and culinary school, Matt became a chef, and helped represent Team USA in the IKA Culinary Olympics in Berlin, Germany in 1996, winning a medal. Matt enjoyed summers at Houghton Lake with his family, and fishing with his father, Paul. He is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth and father, Paul. Matt is survived by his mother, Connie; brother, Mark; uncles, Cam and Doug; and nephew, Walden; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. There will be no services at this time.
