ZEBARAH, MARY L. "VONA"
Vona went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2012, age 92, under the care of Great Lakes Hospice, while residing at RidgeCrest Health Campus in Jackson, Michigan. She is survived by her seven children, Carole (Bill) Christensen, George (Joyce) Coltman, Charles (Linda) Zebarah Jr., Terri (Paul) Swihart, Rande (Donna) Zebarah, Pamela (Randy) Beach and Ken (Christine) Zebarah Sr. Vona leaves a legacy of love, hard work and compassion, through them and her 22 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. In 1919, Mary LaVona Marchand was born in Canada to Albertine (Grandmaison) and Joseph Marchand Sr., and was raised in the Detroit area with her sister Vivian and three brothers, Joseph Jr., Richard, and Albert. In 1950, Vona met and married her husband of 54 years, Charles M. Zebarah Sr. All have gone before and now welcome her home. Vona and Chuck raised their family in Allen Park and were faithful members of St. Frances Cabrini parish where the children attended school. Vona was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers and the game of baseball, teaching each of her children the sport. In 1971, the family relocated to Vandercook Lake. Vona retired from Camp International as a talented seamstress. Her love for her family and friends was evident through the care and detail she put into the many clothes, dolls, costumes, prom dresses, communion gowns and blankets she crafted. Her creative work ethic was also displayed in the beautiful gardens surrounding their home. Vona and Chuck welcomed all to their home and enjoyed entertaining family and friends on the lake. Vona lived a long and active life. She enjoyed bowling and was a lively member of the Crouch Senior Center. She and her husband enthusiastically attended all the sporting events of their grandchildren. Vona inspired and instilled hard work, deep love and genuine compassion in her children, who would like to express sincere gratitude to the caring staffs at Green Leaf AFC, the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home, RidgeCrest Health Campus and Great Lakes Hospice. Her life will continue to inspire her family's future generations.
