Mary Christine Whitney

Went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 14, 2014. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert I. Whitney III and her parents, Valentine and Ruth Janson. She is survived by her children, Debbie (Curtis) Howard, John Whitney, James (Claudel) Whitney, Edward (Sue) Whitney, and David Whitney; 13 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren; loving cat Oscar; and many, many friends.

Mary was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Oratory. She was a loving and courageous women who was devoted to many missions and was a lifelong Notre Dame and Michigan fan. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, travel to the casino, playing bingo, birdwatching, enjoyed crocheting, and going out to dinner. She worked for Mercy hospital and St. Joseph School for many years.

Mrs. Whitney is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held on Thursday, December 18 at 9:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Oratory at 10:00 AM with Fr. Timothy Nelson officiating. Cremation to follow.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
