At the age of 69, while surrounded by her family, Mary Anne Utess of Jackson passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Mary Anne will be lovingly remembered by her children, Emily (Steve), Courtney (Aaron), Elizabeth, Arianne, Elsa (Chris); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Gabriella, Stephen, James, Etta Rose, Traver, Ansel, Beatrix, Gracie, Faith, Christopher, Patrick, and Addelyn; her siblings, Chuck (Connie), Leo (Suzi), Dan (Mary Beth), Dick (Kathy), Bob (Sue), Margaret (Roy), (Julie); siblings by marriage, (Mary Margaret), Kris (Dwight) and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded by her husband, James (Jim); her parents, Paul and Rose Ann (Miller) Scheid and siblings Bill and Stephen aka Louie; her husband's parents, Charles and Dorothy (Schroder) Utess and her husband's brother, Louie.
Mary Anne graduated from Lumen Christi in 1971, then attended Jackson Community College where she met her husband. Together, they moved to Ann Arbor, where Mary Anne worked for Jacobson's and Jim attended University of Michigan. They moved back to Jackson to expand their family. After having 5 girls, Mary Anne returned to work as a development director for Lumen Christi High School. After leaving that position, she became more involved with Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church and started several initiatives. Mary Anne had a passionate faith, a strong will and a great desire to help others. She loved her family, her friends, being active in the community, and spending time with people. Mary Anne touched many people and will be greatly missed.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. Private interment will be held at St. John's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday, January 13 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:30 PM. The family will also receive friends at Queen's Church on Saturday, January 14 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mary Anne's name to Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church or St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
