Rooney, Mary F.

Mary passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the age of 91, at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital due to complications of Covid-19.  Mom was born in Highland Park, MI, the daughter of Andrew and Frieda Kormos. She attended Cass Technical High School in Detroit and worked as an elevator operator as a young girl. She moved to Jackson and worked for Grinnell Brother's Music Co. for over 23 years as their bookkeeper. Mom also worked 12 years for Jackson County ISD, as a bus attendant for special needs children and alongside our father, at St. John's Elementary School as custodians for more than 23 years. Our parents were married 50 years at the time of Dad's death in 2017. She loved holiday gatherings with her family, especially her grandchildren and the numerous picnics we had at Pleasant and Clark Lakes. Mom was very talented with arts and crafts and loved sharing her creations. She also enjoyed going to bingo with neighborhood friends and always had a smile on her face.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Andrew, her son Dennis Demory and her husband Joseph Rooney. Mom is survived by her children Theresa (Darin) Aldridge, Susan (Jim) Schulz, Ann (Manuel) Lopez, Mary Rooney, Pat (Susie) Rooney, Jane (Mark) Lannen, Beth (Bill Gross), Laura (Cal) Torres, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and sisters-in-laws, Rosemary Mierzwa and Kate Sedore.

Mom, may the angels welcome you to paradise, we will miss you so very much.

A visitation will be held Monday, December 14, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Mass of the Christian Burial following at 11:00 AM with Father Bob Pienta officiating.
