Lourim, Mary Lou
Age 87, died peacefully at Vista Grande Villa, Friday, May 24, 2019. She was born October 15, 1931 in Calumet, MI in the Upper Peninsula. She married Thomas W. Lourim on May 3, 1952 in Jackson, MI, who predeceased her. Mary Lou was an active member of First United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir for over 40 years. She performed at both Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center with the choir and loved making music, including playing her piano at home and for church functions. She was a Teachers' Aide for Jackson Public Schools at Bennett Elementary School for 9 years where the students loved her and often asked if they could come home with her. Her family was the most important thing to her and she rarely missed any events of her children or grandchildren. She was a fierce competitor at Phase 10 and any wins against her were hard fought battles. Mary Lou is survived by her 3 children, Mary Anne Gough, Jeff (LuAnn) Lourim of Jackson, and Michele (Vince) Lichtinger of Findlay, Ohio; 2 sisters, B.J. Bunker of Jackson and Laura Lee Hoffman of Cincinnati, OH; sisters-in-law, Margaret Stivender of Traverse City, MI and Edna Mae (Bill) Hirschfelt of Penryn, CA; 8 grandchildren, Tom (Danielle) Gough, Tim (Maegan) Gough, Michael (Keya) Gough, Chris (Lisa) Lourim, Megan (Eric Janson) Lourim, Shawn Lourim, Mitchell Lichtinger, and Matthew Lichtinger; great-grandchildren, Natalee, Nora, Nolan, and Nixon Gough, Ashley Schaffer, Leah Hicks, Broyden Cole, Jaxon Janson, and Lincoln Gough; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Laura Hoffman; her in-laws, Francis and Marion Lourim, her brother, Herman Hoffman; her brothers-in-law, Dick Bunker, John Lourim, Bob Lourim, and Don Stivender; her sisters-in-law, Helen Lourim and Janet Hawkins.
