Fleming (Bullinger), Mary Jane "Janie"

Born on April 20, 1915, died on Friday, January 24, 2014. She is survived by nine children, Mark (Camille) Fleming, Susan Shaughnessy, Mary Beth Sayre, Joseph (Paula) Fleming, Sarah Matiska, Richard (Debra) Fleming, Louise (Frank Williams) Fuller, Carol (Greg) McMichael, Peggy Faurot; 27 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; five siblings; many nieces and nephews.

A lifelong resident of the Jackson area, she attended St. John's Catholic School and graduated in 1933. She was, in fact, the last living member of her graduating class. Janie was a kind & generous soul who was happiest when helping others. Her motto was "It is in giving that we receive". After her youngest child was in school, Janie began a volunteering journey that spanned two decades. She started by delivering mail to & visiting with residents of the old JCMCF. She then spent many hours sitting with ill, homebound persons while their tired caregivers took much-needed breaks. This was achieved through Hospice of Jackson & later, Respite Care of Queen's Church. She was a devout catholic & supported her parish in various ways. Janie married Clare (Fleming) on October 21, 1939. They enjoyed nearly 50 years together living on a farm 12 miles north of Jackson where they raised 10 children. Their kids truly loved growing up "in the country" with lots of room to roam and with a lake nearby. Many nieces, nephews & friends carry fond memories of "the farm" with them today. In 1983 the couple moved into Jackson where Clare passed away in 1989. Mary Jane was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jane "Missy" Maki; grandson, Capt. Patrick Fleming USMC; daughter-in-law, Betty Fleming; son-in-law, Clay Faurot Sr. and 8 siblings.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.  The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Friday, May 16th at 11:00 AM with Fr. John Whitlock officiating.
