of Jackson, age 94, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Countryside Care Center. Survived by her son, Roger W.; daugther, Judy (Bill) McFarland of Dexter; three grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and step-brother, Richard (Mardelle) Barrell of Republic, Ohio. Preceded in death by her husband, James V.; son, Jerry L.; and two step-brothers, Robert and Glen Barrell.

Mary was born September 2, 1920 in Kinderhook, Michigan to Kenneth and Rollene (Gifford) Blackman. She married James V. Herman on February 24, 1941. The family moved to Chelsea from Coldwater in 1955 and then to Jackson in 1960. Mary felt that the years between 1941 and 1967 were the best years to raise a family. Home and family were of great importance to her evidenced by her membership to PTA, the attendance at her children's sporting events and her assistance in the Scout Troops and Dens. Mary still found time for her favorite pastimes of genealogical research, stamp collecting, and raising African violets. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Jackson Historical Society, a life member of the Mayflower Society, and a 40 year member of the D.A.R.

Mrs. Herman is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home, 204 N. Blackstone Street, Jackson, where services will be held on Tuesday, January 27 at 1:00 PM with Fr. Robert Pienta officiating. Private interment Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
