Halm, Mary Christine
Age 67, was born on Christmas Day in 1949. Her earthly life ended on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Mary was the daughter of Joseph H. Halm and Lucille D. (Driscoll) Halm. Her siblings are Michael J. Halm of Cincinnati, Ohio, Terrence Halm (Karen) of Kalamazoo, and Joseph J. Halm (Frances) of Pleasant Lake. Chris will miss her special niece, Michelle and nephew, Joseph. The family lost a baby girl (Katherine) in childbirth in 1962.
Mary Chris was a brilliant student. She was also an artist and a published poet. In her full academic career, from first grade to graduate school, Mary rarely earned a grade that was less than an A. She graduated from St. John's High School in 1967, Jackson Community College, and Michigan State University.
In ninth grade, Mary's life changed radically. Since 1964, Mary has been challenged by the effects of several major health issues that blocked her ability to achieve her lifelong goals. These health issues greatly affected the way in which Mary was able to navigate the challenges in her life. But no matter what challenges she faced her "German heritage" provided amazing determination to make the best of every situation that she encountered. What I want you to know is that Mary Chris never gave up, or into the devastating sicknesses that she endured. She also had enough "Irish" heritage in her blood to spit in the devils eye when he tried to trick her. She is finally at rest and her suffering is finally over.
Mary Chris has been cremated and her remains will be placed next to Mom (Lucille) and Dad (Joseph) in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Jackson. I ask you to continue to place Mary Chris in your prayers. The family would like Chris to be remembered in a joyous and positive way when we meet at the Driscoll reunion in St. Charles on July 16. Chris loved going to the reunions, competing, and talking and enjoying it all. Life is not over when we die it is just beautifully changed!
If you would like to remember Chris in an act of charity give your gift to the first person in need that you see in a very random act of kindness.
