Mary Lou Everett (Duffy)
Of Jackson passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on February 22, 2024 at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her sister, Sr. Jane Arthur Duffy, IHM, of Monroe, MI; five children Stephen Everett of Jackson, Julia (Robert) Stephenson of Lake St. Louis, MO, James Everett of Jackson, Susan (Michael) Edwards of Surf City, NC and Colleen Everett of Pass-A-Grille Beach, FL; six grandchildren Zachary Everett (Jon Conners) of Washington, DC, Allison (Matthew) Wippel of Oswego, IL, Sydney (Brandon) Stull of Jackson, Evan Stephenson of Lake St. Louis, MO, Ace Edwards of Raleigh, NC, and James Edwards of Surf City, NC; and four great-grandchildren, Bryson and Gabriella Stull and Liam and Theo Wippel. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Lawrence "Larry" Everett; grandchild, Daniel Everett Edwards; parents Arthur and Mary (Fiero) Duffy; brothers, Robert, Gerald, Matthew, and Arthur Jr Duffy, and sister, Margaret Ann Duffy.
Mary Lou was born on December 18, 1932 in Jackson. She graduated from St. John High School in 1950 then worked for City Bank for many years before she married Larry on October 3, 1959. She was always a loving caregiver not only to those in her home, but all in the neighborhood and enjoyed volunteering at Birthline, St. Vincent DePaul, and St. John's – serving funeral dinners and providing the Holy Eucharist to several nursing care homes in the community. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling with her husband and dear friends – especially to Ireland and Florida. She always had a friendly smile for everyone and could never go anywhere without running into someone she knew.
In her later years, she found immense joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who kept her young at heart.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Robert Pienta officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM led by Deacon Mike McCormick. The family will also receive friends at the Church on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
The Everett Family would like to thank Denise, Lacey, J.R. and the other wonderful healthcare workers with Elara Caring for their hospice services allowing Mrs. Everett to be comfortable in her own home in her final months.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary – IHM Retirement Fund, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
