Joined the angels on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the age of 94 years.
Mary was born July 15, 1923, the youngest child of John Sr. and Theresa Doering. She lived her whole life in Jackson, graduated from St. Mary's High School and was currently a member of Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and six siblings. Also, husbands George John Heinzman Jr. in 1972, and Herbert T. Brogan Sr. in February, 2012.
Mary loved to volunteer and spent her life helping others. She was a member and officer of Mercy and Foote Hospital Auxiliaries, worked in the Ella Sharpe Museum gift shop and was a member of Amaranth. She also worked in retail at the former J. W. Knapp's and L.H. Field's department stores.
Mary loved to travel, dance, play golf and spend time with her family. She was a proud Cancer survivor.
Surviving are one daughter Karen and husband Phil Drongowski of Saugatuck; one granddaughter Julie and husband Richard Timmer of Holland, MI ; and one grandson Jeff Drongowski and Jenna Bryson of Los Angeles. Two great-grandchildren; Hollie Timmer of Grand Rapids and Tyler Timmer of Holland, MI. Stepchildren Herb Jr. and Mary Brogan of Jackson; Margo Brogan of Kalamazoo and Michael Brogan of Eau Claire, MI.; six step-grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren. Also, one sister-in-law, Georgia Collins of Chelsea; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 19 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. There will be a Rosary Service at 7 PM. The family will also receive friends at the church on Wednesday, September 20 from 10:00 to 10:30 AM.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 20 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating. Interment will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, Great Lakes Caring Hospice, or Lymphoma and Leukemia Society.
