Salyer, Marvin E.

of Jackson passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the age of 74 years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eileen; one daughter, Mary Louise (Scott) Parker; three grandchildren, Erik, Hayley, and Kyle Parker; one sister, Pauline (Harry) Chown; sister-in-law, Maggie Rooney; brother-in-law, Phillip (Ann) Rooney; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Theresa "Terri" Salyer; parents, Morgan and Flora Salyer; two brothers, Burl (Edith) Slayer and Willis Ray (Virginia) Salyer; three sisters, Lillie Mae (George) Carr, Levena (Stephen) Allen, and Sue (Bill) Brown,

Marve was a longtime member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge #156. One of Marve's greatest pleasures was follwing his grandchildren's sporting events. Mr. Salyer is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 1:00 PM with Father Tim Nelson officiating. Interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.


The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM with a Scripture Service at 6 PM.
