Martin John Griffin, 63, of Jackson, Michigan died on July 12, 2025.
Marty graduated from Lumen Christi High School. After receiving a degree in Communications from the University of Michigan, he commenced his decades long career in public service. Marty represented the people of Jackson in the Michigan Legislature, as Mayor, and currently as City Treasurer. Marty was also on the board of John George Home, serving as president from 2008-2015, a former Trustee of the Ella Sharp Park Board, the Police and Fire Pension Boards, and acting Associate President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #70. He was a former member of the City of Jackson Planning Commission, the Cascade Humane Society Capital Campaign, the Urban Core Mayors Group, and the National Association of Realtors.
Marty is preceded in death by his father Michael J. Griffin. He is survived by his mother Janet (Stark) Griffin, and his siblings Margaret (Jim) Wilcox, John (Barbara), Michael (Shawn Driscoll), Robert, Gerald (Lisa Nocerini), and Maureen (Andrew Ballantyne). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Edwin, Molly (John) Berdysz, Brittany (Chris) Randall, Audrey (Peter) Bisbee, Mallory, Aimee (Spencer) Pageau, Conor, and Caitlin Griffin, and Penelope and Beatrice Bisbee. Additionally, he is survived by Sandy Martin, Shirley Molloy, Tomas Sambaer, the Griffins and Molloys of Ennis Ireland, and countless friends. Marty was cared for by his brothers Bob and John for which we are eternally grateful. A special thank you to Kathy Walsh who also cared for Marty.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Chas Canoy officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Thursday, July 17 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at the Church on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

The family would like to thank the various congregations of Jackson who have offered their prayers. Marty's memory serves as an example of true public service and he did it very well. Marty was happy to be involved in the revitalization of Jackson's downtown community and he traveled all over the world.
