Mark Joseph Ward, 55 years old, of Jackson, MI, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11th 2025.
Mark was born on November 10th, 1969 in Detroit, MI to Doug Ward and RoseMarie McCray (Plaskiewicz). He grew up in the Jackson area, graduating from Hanover Horton High School. Mark went on to join the United States Army and served honorably in Operation Desert Storm.
Throughout his life, Mark was known for his incredible kindness, unfiltered humor, tenacious work ethic and his willingness to care for the people around him.
Mark worked in many industries, most notably in construction, corrections and manufacturing. Whichever job Mark had at any point in his life, his character and values remained the same. He did whatever was best for his family, made sure that everybody he worked with knew he cared about them, and brought a passionate, competitive mindset to his team. He volunteered years of his life to the church, serving as a deacon and youth pastor. Mark was able to build strong bonds with his family and friends through his character, genuine honesty and his personal values.
Mark had many hobbies, all of which he loved to pour time and effort into. Whether it was his immense love for Notre Dame football, comic books, arm wrestling, puzzles and games with his family, cinema, ATVs, fantasy football, or carpentry, (and so many more), he was driven to reach a feeling of fulfillment. Mark was a very handy man, always willing to help with jobs or projects. His dedication to his craft was most admirable. Mark's driving purpose in life was to provide a great life for his family.
Surviving are his wife Margie, his daughter Mattasyn (Gabriel), his son Mark Jr (Chelsea), his mother RoseMarie, his sister Sylvia (Chuck) as well as his brothers Chris (Ellen), Jimmy, Matt (Jesica) and his brothers in law, Guy Eaton, Scott Smith (Janelle), sisters in law Lynn Herwat (Dave), as well as Mary Benson and numerous nieces and nephews. Mark is preceded in death byhis son Jacob, his father Doug, his sister Lora, his brother Stan and his mother in law, Janet Holloway.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 16th, 2025. The family will receive family and friends at 10:00am followed by a memorial service at 11:00am. There will be a time for everyone to share your favorite memories and stories of Mark, the family encourages guests to share. The memorial service will be held at the Desnoyer Funeral Home - 204 North Blackstone, Jackson MI 49201, with family friend Brad Stevenson officiating. There will be a celebration of life luncheon for the immediate family to follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations that will go directly towards the local VA Services.
