Marie Elena Yates

Of Jackson passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020 age 78 years.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Rev. Woodson "Cleo" Yates. She was very proud of her family and her children- sons Jeffrey Yates and Timothy (Gail) Yates, daughters Melissa (Monte) Desero, Kathryn Yates and Angela (Greg) Pequet, sister Ruth (Dave) Magee, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Marie was an active member of Leoni Baptist Church for over 50 years. In her younger days, she ran the nursery and led the music. Marie had a huge heart and opened her home to more than 100 children as a Foster Parent. In her later years, she enjoyed being a companion and Care Giver for the elderly and helping in Hospice Care. She always wanted to help her loved ones and took pride in retiring to watch her great grandchildren. In her spare time, Marie was a volunteer for the East Jackson Athletic Booster Club. She sold tickets at sporting event and worked concessions. She enjoyed being a part of the wonderful EJ Community and watching the students grow. She had many friends and loved EVERYONE unconditionally.

According to her wishes cremation has take place and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

She is now an Angel, singing and walking with The Lord. She will be greatly missed.
