It is with great sadness that the family of Marie F. Berg, age 87 of Jackson, announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Marie was born on July 4, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to Victor and Caroline Altesleben. She was the third oldest of seven siblings - the late Joyce Collins (Chester), Lorraine McPhee (Don), Victoria Betty Magnee (Paul), Paul Altesleben (Judy), Nicholas Altesleben (Diane), and Victor Altesleben. Marie was married to the late Harold Berg for 28 years who passed in 2008. Marie will also be remembered by her stepdaughter, stepson, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and her many wonderful friends she made along the way.

Following high school graduation Marie entered the Adrian Dominican Sisters and earned her BA plus teaching credentials from Sienna Heights College in Adrian MI. Marie went on to receive her Masters degree in Education in Guidance and Counseling from Wayne State University in Detroit.

She met and married Harold in 1980 and worked as a High School Counselor at Lumen Christi High School in Jackson while also assisting her husband in their insurance business with Prudential.

Marie enjoyed reading books, telling a good joke, mastering jigsaw puzzles, listening to music, playing wii bowling, various card games and visiting with people.

Her life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Queen's Church on Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Queen's Church would be appreciated.
