Of Culver, Indiana passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026 at the age of 84 years.
She is survived by her daughter Suzanne (Nathan) Corey; grandchildren, Thomas Corey, Sarah Gilger, Benjamin Gilger, Tarra Jones, Ian Armstrong, and Aaron Armstrong; her siblings, Sharon Kurzy, Mary Campbell, Carol Miller, Donna Clark, Gilbert Irvin, Patricia Dryer, and Robert Irvin; along with many nieces/nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Thomas A Hockman Jr.; sons, Steven Hockman and Thomas Hockman; father, Robert Irvin (retired military); mother, Florence Irvin; and her brother Edward Irvin.
Margaret, known lovingly as Marge to many, was born in Benton Harbor, Mi. She lived in Germany while her father was stationed there on two separate occasions. She even graduated high school while there. She found the country to be beautiful and had many animated stories to share. Later, she was able to share that beauty with the love of her life, Tom, as they traveled Germany and Austria.
She met Tom in Jackson and knew she would marry him the moment she saw him. Her husband and their children were her life. They were devout Roman Catholics and raised their family in that faith and with their strong beliefs. It was that faith that carried her through her losses, which she had many, and helped her find comfort.
Marge was active in the church by teaching catechism class or as a cantor for masses and singing in the choir. Music lived in her soul and she loved to sing. She was never happier than when she was leading song during mass and could see her family as she looked out to the congregation. She always had music playing at home.
Marge was an avid reader but mostly enjoyed romances or books relating to Catholicism. She enjoyed watching sports but basketball was her favorite. You always knew the Detroit Pistons were playing if you could hear her yelling at the TV about a foul. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Chas Canoy officiating. Interment will be held at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Thursday, April 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at the Church on Friday from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM.
