Gatermann, Manfred "Doc"
Of Jackson passed away on June 27 at the age of 67 after a long illness. Doc was born on June 18, 1944 in West Germany and immigrated to the US in 1953 at the age of 9 with his parents, sister and brother. He attended Jackson High School and graduated from the tool and die apprenticeship program at JCC. He was employed at various tool and die companies in Jackson and retired from TAC Manufacturing in 2008. He took pleasure in his classic cars, loved his Harley motorcycles and going on poker-runs. Doc and Ernie were avid euchre players with their friends at the Robin's Roost. His nieces and nephews will cherish their childhood memories of Uncle Doc. A special thank you to Bob for his continued friendship and support.
Preceded in death by parents, Herman and Elly Gatermann, his beloved wife Ernie of 13 years, and Yorkie "Mollie."
Survived by son, Tyson (Yana) Gatermann of Ann Arbor, daughter, Corianna (Tim) Lucky of Macomb Township, stepchildren, Richard (Beth) DeForest of Knoxville, Tennessee, Lisa (Brian) Hosler of Jackson, sister Monika (Gary) Slusser of Jackson, brother, Joe Gatermann of Margate, Florida and seven step-grandchildren.
A special thank you to the compassionate care he received at Allegiance's Hospice Home. Cremation has taken place.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 PM. A funeral service for Doc will begin at 5:30 PM.
