Madeline Betty Haynes, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Thursday February 27, 2025 at the age of 91.  She was preceded in death by her husband Richard J. Haynes, her son Timothy, parents Victor and Pharailda Maes,  her sisters Margaret and Philip O'Neil, Juliet and Phillip O'Connell, nephew Timothy O'Connell, and in-laws Richard E. and Edith Haynes.

Madeline is survived by: her sister in-law Janet Haynes of Venice Florida; children Thomas (Janice), Gary (Delayn), Richard M., Denise (Greg), James (Lisa), Michael (Susan), Patrick (Sandy), Michelle, and daughter in-law Kathy, 22 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 7 nieces and nephews and their families.

Madeline was a lifelong resident of Jackson.  She graduated from St. John's High School where she was active in student government and a member of the cheerleading squad.  She attended Nazareth College and Michigan State University.  After Richard completed his studies at Michigan State University, she accompanied him with their newborn son Thomas, as he served in post-war Germany.

Upon returning to Jackson she was a busy mother and housewife raising nine children.  Madeline's love and dedication to her family was unparalleled. She supported all of her children in their sporting and extracurricular activities, with her cowbell in tow.  She even worked as a secretary at Lumen Christi while some of her children attended. As her family grew she was always willing to accept new people into her family with an open heart.  Step children and step grandchildren were always welcomed, loved and supported.  To the end she never missed an opportunity to send birthday and holiday cards to all of her loved ones.

Madeline had a fantastic sense of humor, including an ability to laugh at herself.  She was known as a kind and tender hearted person.  Many didn't know she was a talented artist.  Madeline derived great joy in serving those she loved.  She was a devout Catholic involved in church and adoration.  She treasured her Puzzle Club with Mary and Bridget Kelly, along with Colleen and Julie Crowley.  She enjoyed many vacations with family and friends, most especially her time at Cathead Bay. She kept a close group of friends dating back to grade school. Madeline enjoyed life, family, and friends immensely.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Arbor North Living Center for providing a fun, active, community.  We would also like to thank the staff at the Henry Ford Hospice House for their compassionate care.

The family will receive friends at the Queen of Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 4, 9:30-10:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM with Celebrant Father Timothy MacDonald.  Internment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery after the Mass.
