LaPointe, Luella M. "Lu"

Of Jackson passed away under the loving care of her family and the staff at the Allegiance Hospice Home on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 age 88 years. Survived by five children: Elayne (Walt) Niernberg, Gerald (Crystal) Walmsley, Julie (Doug) Pequet, Sue (Tom) Lusk and Jeanne Ryers. 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and her brother Hector (Dorothy) Dulude. She was preceded in death by her husband Harrison "Bud" LaPointe, her first husband Harry R. Walmsley, her step-son Michael LaPointe, two brothers and two sisters.

Lu had an exciting and fascinating career at both the Bay City Times and the Jackson Citizen Patriot. She originated and edited the Weekly TV Magazine for the Jackson Citizen Patriot. She ended her career at the Dow Chemical Company as a Paralegal. Lu loved to travel and gamble. She was an avid bridge and bingo player and was an expert Scrabble player. Most importantly Lu loved her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren.

Mrs. LaPointe is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home, 204 N. Blackstone, Jackson where services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Dr. Daniel C. Price, Ph.D officiating. Private interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta Michigan.
