Lorraine Eileen Varner (O'Meara) of Jackson passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, under the loving care of her family. She was 92 years old.

Lorraine is survived by her four sons, Benjamin III (Julie) of Fenton, Robert (Denise) of Plymouth, Kevin of Grand Rapids, and Paul (Amy) of Jackson; ten grandchildren, Brian (Alyssa), Katie (CJ), Erik, Molly (Brandon), Erin (Jake), Emily (Daniel), John, Madison, Andrew, and Nolan; and nine great-grandchildren, Zane, Elyse, Ava, Valeska, Melanie, Sophia, Michael, Henry, Emerson and baby Watson. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Sauter, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Benjamin Varner II; her parents, Dr. James and Mary O'Meara; her sister, Betty Lefere; and her brothers, Rev. James O'Meara and Thomas O'Meara.

Lorraine graduated from St. Johns High School in 1951. She devoted many years to raising her family before beginning a career at Consumers Power. A faithful Catholic throughout her life, she was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist and now Queen of the Miraculous Medal Parish. She attended daily Mass and enjoyed breakfast with the ladies at the Busy Bee.  Lorraine had a special devotion to Our Blessed Mother and prayed at least three rosaries daily for whoever needed prayers most on that particular day.

Lorraine's greatest joy was her family. She spent countless hours cheering from the sidelines as her grandchildren danced and played baseball, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and hockey. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially golf on the weekends.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Kathleen Cosgrove for the compassionate care she provided over the past three years. Kathleen made it possible for Lorraine to remain at home until her passing. The family also thanks Henry Ford Hospice for their support and care during Lorraine's final days.

According to Lorraine's wishes, cremation has taken place.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Church on Tuesday, February 3 from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM with a Rosary Service at 10:45 AM.

Lorraine was a strong supporter of Catholic education. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Queen of the Miraculous Medal School, Lumen Christi High School, the University of Michigan Cancer Center, or Henry Ford Hospice.
