Graves (Pickett), Lorraine "Lorrie"
Was born on May 9, 1948. She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert D. Pickett and Frances A. Pickett (Brown). She is survived by two children, Beth Kalis and Michael B. Graves (Morgan); two brothers, Robert Pickett (Kathy) and Timothy Pickett (Cheri); two sisters, Jody Doherty (Dennis) and Victoria Webster; and Lorrie's good friend, Joy Nappier (Tim) and family.
Lorrie received her license in Cosmetology in 1963 and graduated from St. John's High School in 1966. She was a Girl Scout Leader for 5 years and taught pre-school Catechism classes at her church, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, for 8 years. Lorrie was a Charter Member of Military Women in Service to America. In 1971, Lorrie joined the Air Force during the Vietnam War Era and rose to the rank of SGT. She received her Bachelors Degree in social work from Spring Arbor University. She worked at Community Action Agency in both the Head Start and Michigan Enrolls programs for 24 years. Lorrie served as Service Officer for 5 years at the Richard F. Smith Post 29. She loved history, especially the Civil War and the War with Germany. She enjoyed doing many different crafts. Lorrie enjoyed helping those in need.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Pienta officiating. The Funeral Mass will be live streamed on St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church's Facebook Page. Cremation will follow the Funeral Mass.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
Contributions may be sent to the American Legion Richard F. Smith Post 29 (3200 Lansing Ave, Jackson, Michigan, 49202) to be used to help our Veterans in need of services not covered by VA to be determined by the Post Executive Board.
