Phillips, Lois Joan

Passed away on Sunday July 3, 2022 at age 88. Preceded in death is her husband John Phillips August 10th 2016 at age 87. They were married 65 years.  Her parents Arthur and Frances Gates, Sister Jean Kelley (Pat), several sister-in-law's, brother-in-law's, nieces and one nephew.
Surviving are two children: Sue Dalke (Allan) of Jackson, and Alan (Cheryl) Phillips of Jackson. 4 grandchildren: Chad Dalke (Leslie), Elisabeth Clark (Teddy), Evan Dalke and Nathan Phillips, and 2 great-grandchildren: Halina Dalke and Avery Clark. One Sister-in-law Patricia Phillips and several nieces and nephews.

Lois most enjoyed the years she spent together with her husband Johnny building their own home and the challenge of learning farming. Cherished time up north at their cabin with family and friends.  Lois drove school bus for 19 years in the Northwest district. She enjoyed the students and formed some of her best lifelong friendships with other fellow bus drivers. Lois had a natural curiosity about new technology with computers and cameras. She couldn't resist buying new kitchen gadgets, even though she tried.

Lois had a passion for knitting which started in childhood. Her interest was reignited after purchasing and learning to use a complex Passap knitting machine. No family member, friend, or neighbor went without knitted hats, scarves, gloves, slippers, or socks.

A Celebration Gathering and Meal for Lois's family and friends will be held at Arbor Hills Golf Club, 1426 Arbor Hills Road Jackson, MI 49201 on Sunday afternoon August 21st between 1:00 and 5:00 PM.
