Patricia A. (Sipes) McWaters, 2-12-1942 - 11-24-2020 and Leslie D. McWaters, 12-23-1944 - 11-24-2020, both born in Jackson, Michigan. Pat was born to Mary Patla and Arlond Sipes. Leslie "LD" was born to Gwendolyn Holmes and Claud McWaters Sr. Pat and LD were married on April 16, 1973 and had quite a love story. Pat was a no nonsense person and dad was a fun loving person. She was definitely the boss. They were polar opposites, yet made it work for almost 50 years. Pat worked at Foote Allegiance Hospital for 35 years as a Registered Nurse in the OR. After she left, Pat continued to meet once a month with fellow retirees. Her sisters, sister-in-law, and daughters were her best friends. LD was a truck driver, ranging from Asphalt to OTR. He then retired his career with Hendrickson Trucking. He was veteran of the United States Navy Reserves and was a member of the Lions Club. He loved making his famous strawberry booze for the chili cook-off and shared it with everyone. LD had more friends than anyone could count and he loved them all dearly. He was the king of one liners. LD had two you would always hear him say, "It's colder than a well diggers ass!" made us laugh every time and his most favorite, "It's too far from your heart to kill you!" A phrase he used to his daughters, his grandkids, and his great-grandkids. Pat and LD loved to go dancing at Julie's Bar, where they first met. LD said, "Pat was the most beautiful woman ever and boy did she look good in hot pants and go-go boots!"

Summers they hosted family pool parties, where Pat made way too much food. They loved driving their '59 Corvette to car shows to meet up with family and friends. We always ended the summer with the annual family canoe trip, in Evart, Michigan. Pat and LD loved going to watch Maxx and Mia race quarter midgets and rarely missed a race. They also enjoyed going up north to watch their grandson, Keaton, play basketball and baseball. Every Tuesday, Pat and LD babysat their great-granddaughter, Arbor and she brought the youth out in them. They attended all their nieces and nephews sporting events. Pat and LD loved to play cards and Mexican Trains with just about anyone who would play. Family game night was something they always looked forward too. Every Saturday was a Hickley's Day that started with their granddaughter, Chelsea and carried on through their great-grandkids.

They did almost everything together, so it should be no surprise that they went to be with the Lord together within the very same minute. The hospital staff that cared for them, as they lost their battle to Covid, said it was too close to call. They recorded their deaths at the exact same time, Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 4:23 PM. Those of us that know them, know that mom went first and said, "LD, it's time to go!"

Pat and LD are survived by their two daughters, Susan Brewer and Joanna (Tom) Sisk; three grandchildren, Chelsea Loker, Keaton Brewer, and Erika (Ben) Rickman; six great-grandchildren, Maxx, Mia, Arbor, Lyla, Emma, and Nola; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends. Pat is survived by her siblings, Sandy Hixon, Jerry (Gaye) Sipes, Sonny (Erline) Sipes, and Sherry (Al) Hedrick; and brother-in-law, Phil Hendricks Sr. LD is survived by his brother, Claud "Stan" McWaters Jr. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Nancy Dunham. LD was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Dillon.

"The family would like to invite  you to celebrate the lives of LD and Pat on June 4, 2021, at 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at Jackson Free Methodist Church.  In honor of what they loved so much, we would love to have a car show, so please drive your classic cars. They were casual people, that loved to spend time with friends and family, and that was one of their favorite ways to do that.  There will be a short service, followed by gathering time and a meal. Please bring your stories to share!

Instead of sending flowers, contributions to the The Humane Society of the United States Disaster Relief Fund or to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) would be appreciated.
