Austin, Les and Freda

Les & Freda Austin lived a full life together for 70 years, before peacefully joining the Lord within 20 minutes of each other on December 7th, 2019.
Freda worked as a Manager at Brail Dry Cleaning for many years and was an impeccable homemaker. She had a love for collecting cookbooks and in more recent years gathered an impressive collection of Dickens Village.

Les served in the United States Air Force as an airborne radio operator during the Korean Conflict and retired from the Michigan State Police after 40 years of service. Les was instrumental in the development of the Accident Reconstruction Program while with the State Police and taught and consulted on the subject nationally. Les enjoyed keeping busy around the house and yard along with his love for Western movies and collecting John Wayne memorabilia. Together Les and Freda enjoyed traveling and camping throughout Michigan and focused their travels on lighthouse locations and the Upper Peninsula.

Les and Freda are survived by their children, Michael (Kathie) Austin, Sandra (Randy) Maes, grandchildren and great-grandchildren Leah (Ed), Grady, Andi & Riley Smith; Aubrey (Andrew) & Vivian Czarzasty; Nichelle (Dieterik) Karmen, Eli, Jade & Zion Rozelle; and Luke Austin.

Visitation will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1508 Greenwood, Jackson, Michigan on Monday December 16th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.

Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 201 E Ash Street in Mason, Michigan on Tuesday, December 17th at 1:30 pm with Pastors Suzanne Goodwin and Ronald Brooks officiating. A private interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mason, Michigan.
