GENCO, LEONARD FRANK
of Jackson, Michigan passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 under the loving care of his family at the age of 91 years. He was preceded in death by his dearly loved wife Ann of 59 years.
Leonard was born November 21, 1925 in Jackson. His greatest love was his family, and he is survived by his five children: Mary (Mike) Fairley of Jackson, James (Carol) Genco of Avon, CT, Ann (Tim) Bethel of Brooklyn, Michigan, Len (Gloria) Genco of Tarpon Springs, Florida and Pam Manor of Jackson. He is also survived by ten wonderful grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. His brother Vincent (Rosemary) Genco of Jackson also survives him. He was also preceded in death by his brother Sam Genco.
Leonard was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. Leonard and Ann owned and operated the Kibby Cobb Mart from 1963-1989. Prior to that time he was a district manager for the Oscar Meyer Co. He loved playing golf and had many golfing friends. He enjoyed watching westerns and playing word games. His loyal and true companion, always at his side after his wife passed, was his buddy (his dog) Elmo. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather (" cookie grandpa"). He will be greatly missed.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, May 18 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Father Richard Eberle O.S.F.S. as the celebrant. The family will receive friends prior to the Mass, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
