Of Jackson, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the age of 92 at Vista Grande Villa. Leonard was born on October 21, 1932 in Jackson to the late Alexander and Verna (Stachurski) Chomic. He was married for 70 years to the love of his life, Virgilene (Hagen) Chomic, until her death in 2023. He is survived by six children: William (Karen) Chomic, Robert Chomic, Donald Chomic (Gail Eischeid), Cynthia (John) Bonnen, Diane (Eric) Hinckley, and Brian (Libby) Chomic; twelve grandchildren: Christopher (Megan) Chomic, Jason (Sarah) Chomic, Theresa (Kyle) Patton, Sam (Jes) Chomic, Kyle Chomic, Lily Bonnen, Denise Hinckley, Michelle Hinckley, Paul Bonnen, Thomas Bonnen, Gabriel Chomic, and Charlotte Chomic; five great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and siblings: Betty Tyslenko, Mary Ann Wood, Marge (Stan) Idziak, and Jim (Jane) Chomic. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Chomic, daughter-in-law, Francyn Chomic, and brothers-in-law, Eugene Tyslenko and Karl Wood.

Len was a proud veteran, having served in the U.S  Army after attending Jackson Junior College. He owned and operated his own business, Chomic Door Company, and also farmed, including the land on which Vista currently stands. He loved camping and was a member of the Michigan Travel Trailer Club. He was also a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Len learned to play the accordion as a young boy and played well into his 80's. He was a member of The Old Timers band and played at church festivals and many sites around Jackson.

Mr. Chomic is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:30 AM.  Interment will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery.  The Rev. Chas Canoy will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Vista Grande Villa and Careline Hospice for their care and compassion during Leonard's final days, and his entire stay there.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Polish Legion of American Veterans or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
