Benn, Leon V. Jr.

Passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021, age 79, of Covid-19 at Henry Ford Allegiance Health.  He was born in Jackson, Michigan on September 30, 1941.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon V. Benn Sr. and Delpha (Sprunger) Smith and his son, Steven M. Benn. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis M. Benn; sister, Judith Ann Benn; daughter Katherine M. Benn-Whitehead; daughter-in-law, Franses Risinger; grandchildren; Travis Benn, Ryan Benn, Alyssa Benn, Caitlyn Risinger, Joseph Bruce, Shon Bruce; great-grandson, Nikolai Benn; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Leon was a long time employee of Fulton Radio of Jackson until it closed.  He retired from Fulton of Lansing. He loved his dogs and enjoyed hunting and camping, especially in the U.P. and with his family. Leon was a member of the Jacksonite Camping Club.   He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served at Ft. Carson in Colorado.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. James Shaver officiating.  The Funeral Mass will be live streamed on St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church's Facebook Page.

The family will receive friends at the Church on Friday from 11:00 to 12:00 PM.

In lieu of sending flowers, contributions to St John's Capital Fund, Good Shepherd Radio, or the Lingap Center in the Philippines would be appreciated.
