Kurzynowski, Lawrence D. "Larry"
Age 73, passed away surrounded by his family on September 3, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 22, 1950 in Jackson, MI to Theodore and Bernice (Sczykutowicz) Kurzynowski (both deceased). On July 5, 1969 he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Karen Koker, and they enjoyed 54 years together. He is survived by his children, Valerie (Jack) Martinez, Dawn and Amy Kurzynowski. His grandchildren Tara, Krista, Katelyn and Mya Martinez, and Caleb Golombek. He is also survived by his siblings Hank (Diane) Kurzynowski, and Sandy Pappaianni.
He was blessed to have his in-laws, Marion (Frank) May, John (Nancy) Koker, Jerry (Bettsey Spink), Rich (Arlene), Mike (Rachel) Koker, and Stephanie (Tom) Heyden. He was preceded in death by his favorite in-laws, John and Helen Koker.
After his Dad passed away, his Mom married a very special man, Dale Payne, who survives. He is also survived by six step siblings, Cindy Romberger, Linda (John) Voorheis, Nancy Wilkins, Wendy (Kevin) Morgan, Randy (Karen) Payne and Bill (Cathy) Payne.
His family was the joy of his life and we are grateful for the memories that were built together. May they carry us through the days ahead. He especially enjoyed traveling, which often included trips to the casinos.
Larry retired from Kelsey Hayes (TRW). He also worked many years at Kent Moore before they relocated out of state.
The family would like to thank Dr. Malcolm Trimble and the entire Henry Ford Oncology staff, as well as Dr Stephen Arntz and Dr. Mohan Kulkarni, for their exceptional care and support during Larry's battle.
Larry is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Chas Canoy officiating. A private interment will be held at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 7 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a Scripture Service at 6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
