Todd, Kenneth Mayo

Went home to his God & Savior on July 17, 2019, following 10 month battle with cancer. Ken's final days were comforted by his family and the outstanding staff of the Henry Ford Hospice Home. He was born Oct. 18, 1937, in Martin, TN to Basil M and Ruby N (Jessup) Todd. He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife Patricia Bayne Todd, and his love Sara (Sally) Popp.

He is survived by his former wife Nicole J. Vance, sons Daniel (Michele) Todd and Steve (Antonia) Todd, grandchildren Daniel J., Donald M., Melinda S., and Joshua A., and Devon M., cousins Peggy Mask, Linda Jo Jennings, and Rev. Mary Lu (Bill) Palmer, and many friends from on and off the golf course. Ken's fervent faith was demonstrated in his active membership at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. He had previously been an active member of Calvary UMC.

Ken's formative years were spent in Chicago, IL. He graduated from the prestigious Lane Tech High School. He later received his BA in Music Education from North Park College and an MA in Music Education from EMU.

Ken served as an educator for over 50 years beginning in 1961 teaching elementary music in the Holly Public School system. In 1964, he came to Northwest public schools where he taught Junior and Senior High choir for 14 years. He directed many musicals during that time. Ken changed to teaching history and developed a practical law curriculum. He retired from daily education in 1997 and continued as a substitute teacher until 2011.

Northwest Mountie fans will recall his exclamation of "Mountie Ball!" To the students that tried for decades to guess his middle name - now you know.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Desnoyer Funeral Home from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church.

A funeral service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Kurt Lambart officiating.
