Ahlbaum, Ken
Age 69, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Marge (Mason) Ahlbaum and his sister, Karen Heeney. He is survived by 7 children: Kenny (Jennifer), Blake, Brandon, Matthew (Alexis), Mark, Emily, and Luke; 3 grandchildren: Lillian, Jackson, and Adalyn; brother-in-law Pat Heeney; aunt Pat Colbourne; and former wife Heidi Ahlbaum; plus cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ken was well known in the scouting community. He was an Eagle Scout, in Order of the Arrow, and earned his Wood Badge beads. He received several awards including: Scouter of the Year (twice, once with Heidi), District Award of Merit, and Silver Beaver.
Through the years, he held different positions both on the Pack and Troop levels including Cubmaster and Scoutmaster touching the lives of many boys and their families. He especially enjoyed mentoring scouts through the process of becoming an Eagle Scout.
Ken also served at the district level planning activities from Camporees to scouts serving at the Civil War Muster. He enjoyed making powerpoint slide presentations for both the troop or district, whether for training, information or to present all the fun that was experienced through the year.
When his youngest son started Trail Life, Ken became a Trail Life leader and the troop's Committee Chairman, emparting the same love for scouting to the Trailmen that he had to all the previous boys.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Father Tim Nelson officiating.
The family will receive friends at St. Mary's Church on Wednesday, August 24 from 9:00 to 9:45 AM with a Rosary Service at 9:45 AM.
Instead of sending flowers, contributions to St. Mary's Church would be appreciated.
