Died on Saturday March 13, 2010, at the age of 94. Kathryn was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 13, 1916, the second of three daughters, to Olive M. (Gibson) and J. Howard Ellis. She was preceded in death by her dear husband of 60 years, Oliver C. "Tony" Bertram, and her granddaughter, Kathryn Mary Polack. Kathryn is survived by two daughters, Margaret (Frank) Kryda of LaGrange, Illinois and Mary (Barry) Polack of Jackson, Michigan. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Nicholas (Jessica) Kryda of Macomb, Illinois, Sara (Brooke) Beardsley of Chicago, Illinois and Cammie Polack of Jackson, Michigan, and two great grandsons, Isaac Kryda and Bryan Beardsley.
Prior to her marriage in 1947 Kathryn enjoyed working in a variety of secretarial positions at the State Sales Tax Department, the Tank Arsenal during WWII, and at Michigan State University. Kathryn was a quiet soul who loved to read and sew. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and Tony lived in Mt. Clemens until moving to Jackson in 1974 when he retired from the Michigan Employment Security Commission in Detroit. Mrs. Bertram is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home. Interment will be in the family plot at East Rives Cemetery, Rives Junction, Michigan, following a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive, Jackson, MI 49202. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at John Ganton's Countryside Manor and Rehabilitation/Care Center for their kindness, patience and skill in caring for our mother over the past few years.
