Steigerwald, Kathleen Marie (Hawley)
Age 77, died on Monday, June 21, 2021 resting peacefully at Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson. She was born in 1943 daughter of Fred S. and Stella J. (Juszczyk) Hawley also from Jackson. June 10th, 1965 she wed Daniel G. Cook of North Lake, Michigan and moved to Ann Arbor later moving to Gregory, MI . After the death of Daniel Cook in 1983 she married John G. Steigerwald in 1995. She then also resided in the Cadillac and Hillsdale areas of Michigan before returning to Jackson in 2011 after the death of her husband John Steigerwald. Kathleen was consecrated a Daughter of St. Francis De Sales in 2013. A member of Queen of the Miraculous Medal parish in Jackson she served frequently as an Eucharistic Minister in numerous, particularly geriatric, facilities in the Jackson area. Kathleen is survived by her brother Fred C. Hawley of Jackson, her two sons Michael A. Cook (Maui, HI) and Paul Cook (Stockbridge, MI) and two grandchildren, Alden G. Cook and William P. Cook. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Peter S. Hawley. Kathleen worked in nursing as both an LPN and RN until her retirement. Thereafter she volunteered locally at free clinics and blood drives, she enjoyed maintaining her flower gardens and hosting holiday gatherings of family.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating.
