Kate Driver (born Kathleen Fischer) died February 8, 2022 in Jackson, MI at the age of 66. Kate was born on January 19, 1956 in St Cloud, Minnesota to Marjorie (Alvord) and Henry Fischer, and raised in Redwood City, CA. The family returned to Minnesota where she married and had her children. She later traveled to southern California and eventually settled in Tuscon AZ, where she remarried to Kimo Driver, who passed away a year or so after their marriage. She subsequently resided in Fargo, ND, Sartell, MN, and finally in Jackson, MI.
Kate was a woman who loved much, suffered much, and who prayed more! She loved her God, her country, her family, animals, travels, studying, writing, and music. She loved life! Despite enduring daily pain, she expressed gratitude for each day and sought to encourage others. After losing her voice to illness, she continued to sing and play guitar with joy, saying it was for God.
She was preceded in death by her father and her husband, and preceded her mother in death by 3 days. She leaves behind her children, Anna Longanecker (Kurt), Albert Goranson (raised by his father), and brothers Tony Fischer (her son by birth) of Sartell, MN, and Bill Fischer of Tuscon, AZ, several grandchildren and many relatives. Kate, also known by her daughter as "Yuma", will be remembered, missed, and forever loved by many.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Father Richard Eberle O.S.F.S officiating. The Funeral Mass will be live streamed on St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church's Facebook Page. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, St Cloud, MN at a later date.
